St Mary’s Church

All the information you need for setting up your pitch in St Mary’s Church

Please read the information below very carefully.

General information provided when you booked your pitch.

Due to Church Services taking place on Sundays, set-up time here is limited. Traders are not permitted to access the Church before 10:45. This means that trading in the Church starts at 11:30 rather than 11am and still ends at 3pm.

The majority of pitches are set up over the tops of the pews and offer table top display only. There is no room for rails or floor standing displays for these pitches. The table tops, which we supply, are 2m or 2.5m long. They are all 1m wide. Some have access to power sockets but this is not guaranteed.

We have a small amount of pitches which are floor-standing, these pitches have no access to power sockets. They are strictly 2m long by 1m wide. This means they can accommodate EITHER a table, a rail or a floor standing display unit. Tables are supplied here.

Please take careful note of the limitations of these pitches. If you book and turn up on the day with stands, rails or tables which are not permitted, you will be unable to trade and under these circumstances, we do not offer refunds.

Your allocated pitch
We are pleased to confirm that we will supply tables and table tops in the Church. We do not supply display stands. You can arrive to begin setting up from 10:45. If you arrive earlier, you will not be given access to your pitch until the Sunday service has finished.

Your table/table top will be set up and ready for you although there may be a short wait until it is placed, you don't need to supply your own. We place labels on the tables so you are welcome to find your own pitch when you are given access to the Church.

It goes without saying that the space in this area is limited and we are very strict about stall holders staying within their allocated pitches. This means any stands you bring to display your products must fit on the table top. We will not allow stands to be placed in front of your tables as these can be a trip hazard. You can use clothes rails but your table will need to be removed as there is no space to have both within your pitch area. Please let us know if you intend to bring clothes rails so we can set up your allocated space correctly.

There is no room to place stands next to your table as, in order to fit everyone in, the freestanding tables will almost touch each other when they're in place and pew top pitches do not have any space to place stands.

The toilet in the Church will be open for you to use. There is no access to the kitchen as this is used by the Church staff on market day to provide refreshments.

Parking and unloading
The best place to park for unloading is in the Old Town High Street Car Park. It is wise to bring a trolly to transport large or heavy boxes of stock.

You are not able to use the Church Hall car park as it is used by Churchgoers. You will need to park in the bays on the road or ideally in the ccar park mentioned above. You will be asked to move if you do park in the Church Hall car park.

We rely heavily on the goodwill of St Mary's Church who allow us to use their grounds to host the market. We ask that our stall holders help us continue this strong relationship by being mindful and respectful of the limited parking areas.

Wifi and music

There is no public wifi network in the Church, you will need to rely on your phone data to operate any payment terminals.

The Church and the Market work together to provide music in the Church. It is not possible to play your own music in this space.
